Redox Cell Signaling and Older Athlete, 58 Year Old Shawn Burke, Crushes Wins 56 of 58 Triathlons

Now, I want to tell you about another world-class athlete who is continuing to improve at age 58!
Shawn Burke’s story:
I was getting ready to do my 18th Ironman but had been able to do only 5 hours training a week instead of the 21 that’s required because of pain & fatigue. All that started changing. My sleep started getting better, my outlook on life was much brighter. I was able to go from 5 hrs/wk to 20 hrs/wk.
“In 2012 I was 51 years old and had been doing competitive sport all my life. But at that time I wasn’t able to workout as I was used to. My body was breaking down. I was always in pain, I was always fatigued, I wasn’t getting sleep, my nutrition was bad. My body was spinning out of control.
“Exercise was a big component of my life. Having been in the military, and dealing with a post-traumatic syndrome, exercise helped me deal with those demons that were in my mind from past war experience.
“So when I wasn’t able to workout I was getting depressed and spinning out of control. It was a very dark moment in my life because I had no control over what I was able to do. Exercise helped me deal with anger and other issues, but I could no longer do it. I was at a crossroad of what to do.
“I was getting ready to do a road race and saw a sign Redox Signaling Molecules Science. Being in the medical field, that caught my eye. Three weeks later, I started reading about the science of it. I felt that I had nothing to lose and everything to gain.
“So I started taking redox molecules and three weeks later I noticed that I was sleeping better. I was getting ready to do my 18th Ironman but had been able to do only 5 hours training a week instead of the 21 that’s required because of discomfort. All that started changing. My sleep started getting better, my mindset started getting better, my outlook on life was much brighter, I was much happier. And then with the training, I was able to go from 5 hours a week to 10 hours and then up to 20 hours a week.
“I started getting my confidence back. I was able to control my emotions, my anger. My work was bright again and it started making a difference in my life. When I did my 18th Ironman race I took 58 minutes off my time for my previous time. I was 51 at that time and my previous race was when I was 49 years old.
“Normally after I do an Ironman race, I have to take a couple of weeks off work to recover. But after this race, I was back to work in 2 days and training the following day. That year I raced 9 more races and had 9 personal bests.
“I’m about to start my sixth racing season and I have tested redox molecules in all different kinds of elements – hot, cold, rain, sleet, snow – all different races, different distances. And I can tell you one thing: it has never failed me yet. When I did my last race of the season, I became overconfident and didn’t take my redox molecules as often as I normally would and didn’t eat properly. I had a really bad race. I didn’t do as well as I had wanted to.
“I have been racing for almost 6 years now using them. I think athletes that aren’t using them are missing the boat.”
